History

Evergreen Lutheran Church began as an independent mission congregation on May 18, 1986 to serve Phelan, Piñon Hills and the surrounding area.  Meeting first at Serrano High School, and then later at Phelan Elementary School, after a donation of land the congregation built its current facility on Vinton Road.  Founding Pastor Rev. Mark Wikstrom performed the first baptism of Amy Bechtel (daughter of Brian and Sally Bechtel) in the life of the congregation September 1, 1986. The minister with the longest tenure was Rev. Christian Andrews from 2004 to 2014.  All members of Evergreen continue to give thanks to God for all the people who have played a part in both its founding and sustaining the life and mission of the congregation since its beginning.
